For nineteen-year-old Seth Moreau, Madrid is a stop along the way to punk rock stardom, if not an escape from the unseemly events that drove him out of New York City. While Seth’s immediate entanglement with a rogue Spanish officer goes against everything his art stands for, his liaison with Sara Jane Santos may bring redemption. Yet, when she begins to display signs of a violent mental illness brought about by the ghosts of her past, Seth must decide once more if he will run away from his troubles.
Planted on the fertile ground of adversity, Sara Jane and Seth will discover if it is possible to simultaneously hold onto their mental and physical freedom, their budding identities, and one another in a city struggling for its own identity.
